Earth-Moon Transit

NASA just released a really cool video of and earth-moon transit. A transit is when something passed in front of an object, usually a moon passing in front of a planet or star (like the sun). Some more recent transits have been Mecury & Venus transiting the sun:

NASA has a spacecraft called Deep Impact that is "comet hopping" and in May they trained it to look back at the Earth as the moon was passing between the two. It took a really cool video from 31 million miles away! They superimposed a model of the Earth so you can see what continents are passing by. When Africa comes into view is when the moon flies by. A quick video, but it's the first time anyone as imaged this phenomenon!

Cool! I'm glad you share this stuff - I have neither the time nor the inclination to go looking for it, but it is very cool to see!
