Hope You're Up For Some Reading!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share that one of the papers my lab has submitted has been published! I am 3rd author on the paper for my role in the technical work and write up of the materials & methods.
The title of the paper is Role of Extra-Esophageal Reflux in Chronic Otitis Media with Effusion. You will need Adobe PDF reader, which everyone should have. If you don't you can download it here: Adobe Reader.
I have been acknowledged in another paper last year: Plasma Fibrinogen γ' Chain Content in the Thrombotic Microangiopathy Syndrome, but I was never included as an author.

Anyone that doesn't already know, Mara was second author on a paper last year: Pain With No Gain - Allodynia Following Neural Stem Cell Transplantation in Spinal Cord Injury. She should have been first author since it was her idea and her work, but the M.D.'s have to have their way! Her department's policy is actually to let the tech's on the papers, but since it was her idea, it's pretty important she's included!

There will be a short quiz next week...

Home Triumphs & Tribulations

We have good news and bad news. First the bad. The lender for the buyers has backed out, so they are in the process of finding a new one. For those that don't know, we were supposed to close a week ago, but it's been put off now until the 29th at the latest. They are actually renting the house from us now, which hopefully means that closing will go ahead on the 29th and we won't have to evict them and sue...not a pretty option, but pretty much our only one.

And now the GOOD! We found a house in Kirksville and we will (barring any inspection issues) be closing on the 3rd of August! The address is 8 Leisure Drive. It's actually in a neighborhood where we had looked at 3 or 4 other houses, but they all sold before we could tour them, so it's a REALLY desirable area. Several teachers and students live in the area as well. There are several pictures at the link above, but we took some of our own from slightly better angles & light.

Our living room has 3 large windows that let a TON of light in!
As you can see there are hardwood floors through out the entire house (minus the kitchen & baths)

Our dining room is just off the kitchen & living room, in a nice area.
We were really looking for a nice place to put our big table, and this one will accommodate it nicely!

The kitchen has about 30 cupboards! This picture doesn't do it justice, but there are more to the left (next to the fridge) and a pantry as well.
Through the door you can see the Den, which could be used as another bedroom, but with as much studying as we'll be doing, the bigger the den the better!

The Den also has hardwood, but is covered up with a rug.

To the right is another door leading out to the living room, so this is really accessible!
The window is to the back yard so we can watch the dogs when we need a break.

Our lot is probably twice the size of our house in Milwaukee(0.2 acres, 9009 square feet or 836 Million square millimeters).
The huge white shed stays, so that will be really nice for yard equipment. Since we do not have a basement, our garage & utility room will be storage for basement items.
It's also fenced in so we don't have to worry about the dogs...but we still will.

I like to call this room the "Seizure Room". Needless to say, it will be the first one painted...
This room gets a lot of light as well, so the blue can be pretty blinding on a sunny day!
Every room has at least 2 windows, with the bathrooms with only 1, but the house is really well lit all day!

The master also needs to be painted, but at least it doesn't give you a headache, just lowers your testosterone...:)
The sink it really a cool touch, with a bathroom behind and to the left of the camera person.
They have a king bed as well, so we know our new bed will fit nicely!

We will be moving from Milwaukee to Kirksville on the 3rd of August, and anyone who would like to help won't be turned away!
If you can't make it Friday to help, anyone is more then welcome to visit us on that weekend, especially if we paint...:)
Just let us know when you can help and we'll be sure to have plenty of food and refreshments for everyone!

Yes, We Are Still Here...

Wow, did we fall off the face of the earth or WHAT! No, we didn't get lost on our hiking trip, we moved to a condo Sussex for the next 6 weeks!
We packed up the computer & our internet won't be hooked up until Thursday, so we can't put any pictures up quite yet.
We will hopefully close on the house Friday, if there are not anymore setbacks from our buyers. We were suppposed to close today, but they had to push it back to rewrite some things.
For those who are interested, our new address is N67 W24850 Stonegate Ct #102, Sussex, WI 53089. It's a strange one, but it's temporary. You can just send it to our house address and it will get forwarded.
Mara and I promise to put up some pictures of our trip, probably more than you would care to see, but we had a blast!
Take care, and we'll post for you in a couple of days!
