Making The Most Of Our Long Weekend

~20 miles of hiking for Mike, plus 3.5hrs of rock climbing with Sasha, capped off with a 5K in Rohan's new jogging stroller makes for a pretty full weekend!
First, on Friday Greg and I attempted our 50 mile hike of the Highline Trail.which we ended up heading home after the first day.  That trail is a monster!  We were not ready for the constant up and down of the terrain, in addition to the 14+ miles we hiked the first day in rain. We got to Horton Spring camp around dusk, then waited out what Hurricane Jimena dropped on us on Sat before Mara came and picked us up.  The trail is a lot rougher than we expected and the elevation changes were really strenuous.  I think we'll end up doing the rest of the trail in sections, and then maybe attempt the whole 50 mile trail over the course of a week or so, not 3.5 days...:)  After a long soak in the hot tub we took Greg home and relaxed the rest of the evening.  Greg spent his birthday with several ice packs & ibuprofen I'm sure.  I really enjoyed the hike, and we are already talking about doing more there and back backpacking where you hike in 5-6 miles, camp, and hike out.  That way we can get used to packing lighter and lighter (especially with Rohan), and it also doesn't eat up our whole weekend.  Heather & John were kind enough to take Rohan Thursday through Saturday so we could make this trip happen.  Mara and I also got to have a nice dinner (sans baby) followed by awesome yogurt treat and a nice walk around ASU's district.  We really appreciate them doing that for us!  THANK YOU!  I snagged some pics from their blog too.
Sunday we met the Caldwell's out for some beers at Old Chicago, capped off with an ice cream treat.  Before supper we met with someone selling a jogging stroller on Craigslist.  It was a really nice model (Dreamer Design) that is really light.  We took Rohan for a quick test run and bought the jogger.
Monday we relaxed in the morning, then Sasha brought Abby to hang out with Linus & Schroeder while we went back to AZ On The Rocks and climbed.  We were there for 3.5hrs!  We had a blast!  Rohan's getting the feel for the wall, and will be on the rock as soon as we can get him to hang on by himself! :)  Afterwards we at a light supper at Sauce and then took our new stroller for a test jog.  I was a little sore from the hike still, so we only ran a 5K, but the stroller was awesome!  It rides so smooth and even got Rohan's seal of approval.
All in all a great weekend!  Hope you enjoy all the pics & vids!
