Alternating Brewer Game Rock Climbing Weekend

Talk about an exhausting (BUT FUN!) weekend! Friday Mara and I met downtown after her Psych day was done and headed to Chase Field where our hometown Brewers were in town to play the Diamondbacks. We got there ~2.5 hours early and walked around downtown, then the stadium for a while. We realized how heavy Rohan is getting! He's lost some of his fat rolls as he continues to stretch out. He's right around 28" now. While we were at the stadium, watching batting practice, one of the bullpen coaches (Joe Crawford) saw Rohan in his Brewers gear and tossed us a ball from center field. Rohan LOVED his BP ball! The game was great, and the Brewers didn't disappoint, winning 6-3. We sat next to a couple from the La Crosse, WI area. They were a riot, and ended up winning a trip to Puerto Viarta, Mexico! We also caught a t-shirt from their t-shirt chucking mascot, Baxter. It was a Large Diamondbacks shirt, so we gave it to the WI couple. He said he'd give it to a nephew since he wouldn't wear it either...:) They also told us about a rock formation called The Wave in northern AZ that we have to check out sometime. They also had fireworks after the game, which were a lot of fun. Rohan tried to sleep through them, but kept being enticed by the lights to watch.
Saturday we met up with some friends and their family at AZ on the Rocks to introduce them and their kids to rock climbing. Sasha was there, as usaul, and brought her roomate Ali. Chris & Janae Squires brought their sons Kasen (3) & Carter (6). They both took to the wall very well. Carter climbed to the top at least 6 times, and Kasen made it almost half way a couple of times. They REALLY enjoyed it, and judging from the pictures from supper, were worn out...:) Sasha was able to conquer one of her nemesis routes, but gained a couple more so she's got some more climbing to do. Ali didn't make it to the top on any, but she still tried her best. I think everyone had a lot of fun. Mara and I ended up purchasing a year membership at the end of the day. We have REALLY enjoyed climbing, and it's something we'd like to introduce Rohan to, so we might as well know how to climb too! The deal we got was over 70% off with our student discounts, coupons and gift cards! Both memberships are paid off if we go 10 times in the next year...we'll have that done by the end of October! After climbing we went to NYPD Pizza, and after awful service as usual, we got our delicious food. We love the food there, but seriously, the service is atrocious. Carter & Kasen ended up passing out on the bench seat and they didn't even wake up when they were carried to the car. Rock climbing is a GREAT way to wear a kid out!
Sunday we met up with Sasha and a friend of hers from Midwestern University's D.O. school, Jason, and went to another Brewers game. The Brewers, once again, kicked ass and ended up sweeping the DBacks over the weekend. Afterwards we had a couple of hours to spare before AZR closed, so we went and rock climbed a little. Our forearms & fingers are getting much stronger, and not staying sore as long. The first time we were crippled by the cramping...:) Rohan, of course, charmed everyone there. Even the staff was coming over to see him smile and giggle.
One of Rohan's fun things now is the clicking sounds he makes. It sounds like he is speaking in the Khoesaan language of clicking. We got a little video of him in the bathtub clicking. Enjoy!

I love Rohan's new language. Did he pick up that clicking from you?

This kid has had more experiences than most people do in a lifetime. He's "well-rounded" in more ways than one.
