Mudslide Hiking

We took some time in between rain showers to hike out at Thousand Hills last weekend. It has been very wet here, and with the clay soil, most of it was runoff, but some stayed on the trails to make a slippery, wet, mud trail. But it was nice to be out of the house, and definitely good for the dogs to get cooled of in Forest Lake!
Linus did what Linus does best, entertainment. We had come up to a slight runoff area and we were trying to decide the least muddy way to cross. Linus had been distracted back on the trail (as usual) and was running to catch up and pass us. He thought the runoff area was much shallower than it was, and ended up hydroplaning on his face for about 4 feet. We seriously almost pissed ourselves, it was so funny. We didn't even hear him coming so it was completely out of the blue! There are some good "after" pictures of the scene. Note the area at the end of the long puddle, you can almost see where his face stopped on the bank...:)
We capped the nice day/night off with a fire in our fire pit. Mara was playing with the exposure time and got some really cool pictures of the sparks from the fire. If this whole "Dr." thing doesn't work out, she can be a photographer instead!

Linus hydroplaning on his face....not too many things I would pay money to see, this I would. Priceless.

I'm hoping Linus saves up some of his stupid for when we're down there. He ususally doesn't disappoint!

Poor misunderstood Linus! Gotta love him!
Cool picture of the fire sparks - that would make a neat photo to hang on your wall. The falls look really cool, too.
