Cooling Down!

Well, July was offically the hottest month EVER in Phoenix! The average temp was 98.2°F, over a half a degree higher than the previous record of 97.6°F. Considering it only topped out below 100°F twice and those same days the low was 79°F. The heat really isn't bad, unless you have to work or play in it. Mostly going from car to store isn't that bad. I'm sure next year the novelty will have worn off and we'll hate the heat...:)
Friday we met Sasha & Ali out for Sushi & happy hour. Rohan scared us for a second when we started choking. He's been chimpmunking food (storing it in his cheeks) and he decided to try and eat it all at once and it got stuck. Mara gave him a quick pat on the back, and everything pretty much came out on our backpack/diaper bag. Scary, but it's always good to have several future doctors nearby...:)
Saturday I golfed with Brian at ASU's home course, Karsten's. It was warm, but I'm getting used to the heat. Staying hydrated makes it much more tolerable. Brian and I had a quite a few awesome holes, but a few implosion ones too. Brian shot about 84 and I was around 92 (I lost the scorecard before we could add it up). Then we meet over at Sasha & Ali's for Ali's birthday party. It was nice to see everyone since they've all be busy with rotations and no one has the same schedule. Rohan was a little cranky since he hadn't slept but 3 hours all day, but he was a trooper and hung out until 10. He's slept about 10 hours through the night the last 2 days which has been a big bonus.
Sunday was pretty low key. Sasha came over and we hung out in the pool for a couple of hours. When it cooled down to ~98°F we went on a 4 mile run. It was brutal, but frequent stops helped us get through it. All in all it was a great weekend, and a nice relaxing one with friends after the first round of clinical rotations!
Rohan did receive Jackson's Nuks the other day from his No More Nuks Party. It was funny how everything was covered in frosting! Rohan loved the excess tape used to seal the box, and that was by far his favorite part. I don't think he's played with tape before so it was a new texture to him. Rohan's been crawling more and more every day. That kid is going to be fully mobile in no time, and then the fun begins! Enjoy the pics & vids!

Funny that you mention it being the hottest month on record in Phoenix because it was the *coldest* July on record in Iowa. Now I know where our spare air conditioning dollars are going! Avg temp as of the morning of 07/31/09: 68.1F

The photo of Rohan standing and then the video of him rocking (ready to crawl) really threw me for a loop. I'm amazed at how quickly he's advancing!

I remember the chocking stage...hated it. Tell the squirrel to quit storing up for winter....it never comes in Phoenix!

Seeing him standing there was awesome!!
I swear, someone was moving that book further and further out of reach on him! Teasers!
He is doing fantastic!!!!!

Loved the kicking legs at the end of the crawling to the book video...Please tell me no toddlers (he's almost in that category!)were harmed in the taping of that last video.

He's making positive forward movement, instigated by frustration. It works! I'm impressed.

Rohan,

Dude, my parents did the same thing to me - pulling things away just as I was about to grab them. Here's what you do.... When you start walking (take your time on this one - the knees and forehead can get pretty abused), gather up their phones and hide them - anywhere - you won't be able to talk for a bit so they can't ask you where you put them - it's great! Or you can wait until your parents are just about to sleep and then spread all your toys around so they're too lazy to pick them up - then in the middle of the night they'll trip on them - no need to cry at the sounds of their yelling - just smile to yourself.
And if that all doesn't work out, just wait, you have lots of teeth yet to come... They'll get theirs....

Power to the baby's!

Your cuz',
Thomas

What a big boy he is!! He'll be tearing around in no time! Just wait! Can't wait for Cameron and Rohan to get together again - the difference in size is narrowing! :)
